Nestled in the rugged landscape of rural Vermont, this 2020 off-grid cabin seamlessly blends high-performance engineering with a sleek, modern aesthetic. Constructed with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) and wrapped in a durable standing-seam metal envelope for both roofing and siding, the three-bedroom home is designed for extreme thermal efficiency, utilizing Marvin Modern triple-pane windows, an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV), and a robust solar array to achieve true energy independence. The interior is anchored by a custom wood-fired fireplace featuring an integrated pizza oven, serving as a warm, artisanal focal point that contrasts with the home’s sharp architectural lines. Beyond the living quarters, a large attached shop space provides ample room for technical projects, while expansive glazing frames the breathtaking local views, proving that sustainable, super-insulated living can be as luxurious as it is resilient.

OUTER GREEN LODGE
Outer Green Lodge is a contemporary post-and-beam designed and built by us in 2010. This sustainable estate is defined by its sweeping 180-degree views of Mt. Monadnock and a rich interior palette of spalted maple, copper, and timber harvested directly from the surrounding land. The home’s open-concept heart features a massive Scandinavian masonry stove and a gourmet kitchen equipped with a wood-fired pizza oven, while the upper levels offer serene spaces like a vaulted meditation room and an expansive yoga studio. Built with energy-efficient Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) for the foundation, double stud walls for the exterior enclosure and radiant heating, the residence seamlessly blends modern utility—including a professional-grade woodshop and pottery studio—with the tranquil, secluded character of the Vermont woods.
